Counter height exists for the seats that face out: the window run, the ledge by the pass, the strip where people stand with a laptop for twenty minutes. At 890 mm the seated eye is level with the street rather than under the sill.
Top and base
The column is steel and the foot is a weighted disc, because a tall table takes more sideways load than a low one — the same push that a dining table shrugs off will walk a counter table across a floor.

One diameter, 550 mm, which is the size that takes two cups and a plate at counter height without blocking the aisle. Pair it with a 650 mm seat; anything lower and the guest is reaching up all evening.
