What is tested, and what we do not claim
Specifications are only worth the checks behind them. This page lists exactly what happens to a batch before it is loaded, and — just as importantly — the certifications we do not hold.

Load, tested on the whole chair
Chairs are tested as a complete unit — frame, joints, legs and seat — under 150 kg static load, with the load applied to the seat and back assembly. Most suppliers quote a seat-load figure measured on a pad in a press, which tells you nothing about the joint that actually fails.
Counter stools are tested the same way and at the same figure. Booth runs are checked for fixing strength rather than point load, because the load on a booth is sideways, not downwards.
Batch inspection, before packing
| Frame | Every joint checked for play, every weld ground and inspected |
|---|---|
| Seat | Upholstery pulled and stapled to depth, no creases across the front edge |
| Finish | Colour against the approved sample, under daylight, not under workshop light |
| Glides | Fitted and matched to the floor type recorded on the order |
| Dimensions | Seat height and overall height checked against the drawing, per batch |
| Booth runs | Dry-assembled in the workshop before crating, corners included |
Materials documentation
Ash and beech are tested for restricted substances, and PU is screened for heavy metals. Reports are available on request. If a project needs a specific document for a specific fabric, the fabric has to come from a mill that issues one — we will not write a claim we cannot back with a document.
What we do not claim
- No CE marking. We do not hold CE marking on this range and we do not put a CE mark on cartons.
- No BIFMA certification. We test to a 150 kg whole-unit load figure, which is our own specification, not a BIFMA test report.
- No fire certificate of our own. Where a room requires one, it comes from the fabric mill, not from the furniture maker.
If a tender document requires any of the above, say so at enquiry stage and we will tell you plainly whether we can meet it before you spend time on a submission.
Packing
Chairs are packed by stack, tables flat with the top and base separated, booth runs crated in the lengths they were drawn. Loading photographs are sent before the container is sealed, so what left the workshop is on record.
Can we send our own inspector?
Do you provide test reports with every order?
What tolerance do you hold on seat height?
Need a document for a tender?
Tell us which document the tender requires before you submit. We will say plainly whether we can meet it, rather than after the order.
