The pattern is the point of this one. Four leaves are cut and matched so the grain radiates from the centre, which means the table looks the same from every seat rather than showing a striped top to two people and a plain one to the other two.
Top and base
Under the veneer is a stable board, not solid timber, because a solid top at 800 mm square will cup through a winter of hot plates. The trumpet base is stainless and sits under the middle of the top, so there is no leg to stub a foot on.
Made to your floor plan
Square tops suit rooms laid out on a grid — window runs, banquettes, a floor of fours. If the plan is loose, take this pattern in a round top instead; the veneer works either way.
