It works along a banquette, where the chair is only ever pulled out and pushed back. The solid wood carries the load and the rattan is what people meet at the table, which is the right way round for a chair that gets used all day.
Frame and upholstery
The frame is solid wood, jointed and glued at the corners rather than stapled, so it stays square through a year of being pushed in and out. The seat is woven in rattan, pulled tight over the frame so it does not sag at the front edge.
Built to your drawing
Each run is sampled at the bench: one chair is built first and signed off before the rest start. Seat height is set to your drawing rather than to a stock number: send the table or counter height and the leg is cut to suit, and a sample leaves the workshop before the run starts.
Ordering and care
Lead time runs from sample sign-off, not from the enquiry, which is the number most quotes leave out. Rattan wants a dry brush and a damp cloth, and it should not be left wet overnight.
