It is the spare seat by the door, the one pulled across when a third person joins a table. The solid wood carries the load and the velvet is what people meet at the table, which is the right way round for a chair that gets used all day.
Frame and upholstery
The frame is solid wood, jointed and glued at the corners rather than stapled, so it stays square through a year of being pushed in and out. The velvet pile is short and dense, chosen so it does not flatten where people push back from the table. The back is tufted, with the buttons pulling the panel into shape rather than pressed in for decoration.
Built to your drawing
Every frame is checked for rock on a flat table before it leaves the bench, not after packing. Nothing here is stocked. Frame colour, upholstery and seat height follow your drawing, and the first sample goes out before the run is booked.
Ordering and care
It is packed flat where the design allows, which keeps the freight bill down on a run of forty or more. Velvet wants a soft brush against the pile, not a damp cloth, which leaves a mark.
