It fits a narrow floor, where the chairs have to tuck fully under the table to keep the aisle. The solid wood carries the load and the fabric is what people meet at the table, which is the right way round for a chair that gets used all day.
Frame and upholstery
The frame is solid wood, jointed and glued at the corners rather than stapled, so it stays square through a year of being pushed in and out. Upholstery is a woven fabric over foam, with the seams piped so the edge keeps its line. The back is curved in plan as well as in section, which is what stops a shoulder finding an edge.
Built to your drawing
Each run is sampled at the bench: one chair is built first and signed off before the rest start. Seat height is set to your drawing rather than to a stock number: send the table or counter height and the leg is cut to suit, and a sample leaves the workshop before the run starts.
Ordering and care
It is packed flat where the design allows, which keeps the freight bill down on a run of forty or more. Fabric takes a vacuum head once a week and a spot clean the same day something spills.
