It is the chair for a two-top that has to become a four-top when a group walks in. There is no upholstery to wear through here, so what you see is what the chair is: solid wood through the frame and the seat.
Frame and upholstery
The frame is solid wood, jointed and glued at the corners rather than stapled, so it stays square through a year of being pushed in and out. There is no upholstery on this model, so the frame is the whole chair and there is nothing to recover later. The back is tufted, with the buttons pulling the panel into shape rather than pressed in for decoration.
Built to your drawing
Feet are fitted with felt or nylon glides, depending on whether the floor is tile or timber. Seat height is set to your drawing rather than to a stock number: send the table or counter height and the leg is cut to suit, and a sample leaves the workshop before the run starts.
Ordering and care
It is packed flat where the design allows, which keeps the freight bill down on a run of forty or more. Two cloths, one dry and one damp, cover what the frame needs.
